FISHING GEARS TOUR
WHAT WILL WE DO ON THIS ROUTE
Through this tour you will be able to see how people work in the Ría de Arousa, the biggest Ría in Galicia.
We will depart from the port in order to begin a tour where we will be surrounded by mussel platforms and boats working in the Ría.
Depending on the close season and the time of the year, people will be using different gears.
We will see shellfish gatherers collecting clams and also working at the beaches.
We will also learn the farming process of the best mussel in the world: how to raise and remove it.
We will be able to see seiners fishing and shellfish gatherers collecting seaweeds and razor shells from the Ría.
We will learn how prawns come from the sea to our dining plates. The Truleiros are people that work collecting prawns from the platforms.
During our tour we will see other species like octopuses, cuttlefish, small crabs or spider crabs and, you will realise that sea products are expensive because of the effort of men and women spending a whole year collecting them.
Come and join us during this adventure: get to know this coast, its islands and islets, where you will learn about the amazing and hard world of a day at the sea.
Depart and return to O Xufre port at the Illa de Arousa.
It can also be done departing from other ports in the Ría de Arousa (check conditions).
