Amare at Fairway 2025: promoting nautical tourism on the Camino de Santiago
From November 9th to 11th, Amare Turismo Náutico took part in Fairway 2025 – Forum of the Camino de Santiago, the most important professional event related to the Jacobean route, held at the Cidade da Cultura de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela.
This year, we attended under our brand Barco Variante Espiritual, specialized in the Camino de Santiago, with our own stand dedicated to promoting the Traslatio Route, the only maritime–fluvial stage of the Camino. We also took part in the professional workshop, where we presented this unique experience to national and international tourism operators.
Our second consecutive participation in Fairway reaffirms our commitment to innovation in Camino-related routes and to strengthening nautical tourism as an essential part of the pilgrim experience.
What is Fairway?
Fairway is a biennial event held every two years in Santiago de Compostela, bringing together institutions, destinations, tour operators, travel agencies, specialized media, and companies connected to the Camino de Santiago.
Over three days, the event features a full programme including an exhibition area, conferences, presentations, activities for the general public, and a professional workshop. The 2025 edition saw excellent attendance and strong representation from across the Galician tourism sector.
For Amare, participating in this fair is a strategic opportunity to highlight the work we carry out in the Ría de Arousa—especially with the Traslatio Route, but also with our guided tours, fishing trips, island visits, and tailor-made experiences.
A presence with its own identity: Barco Variante Espiritual
Amare’s participation at Fairway was centered around our brand Barco Variante Espiritual, created to give its own identity to the Traslatio experience. Under this brand we manage:
🌊 The Traslatio Route: a boat journey from Vilanova de Arousa to Pontecesures following the legendary route of the transfer of the Apostle James’ body.
📍 Departures from different ports across the Ría de Arousa.
🧭 An official stamp for the pilgrim credential.
🗺️ Tailored information for travel agencies and pilgrims.
At our stand, in addition to brochures and materials specifically for the Traslatio, we also shared information about other Amare experiences such as:
-
Guided visits to Cortegada, Sálvora, or Areoso.
-
Fishing routes and onboard tastings.
-
Private boat rental by the hour.
-
The full tour around Illa de Arousa.
This combination of specialization and diversity allowed us to attract the attention of a wide variety of visitors—from international travel agencies to individual pilgrims seeking a different way to experience the Camino.
Professional meetings at the workshop
As part of Fairway’s professional programme, we took part in the workshop sessions, meeting with more than 20 tourism operators, receptive agencies, and platforms specialized in the Camino de Santiago.
During these meetings:
-
We presented the Traslatio Route as part of the Portuguese Camino – Spiritual Variant.
-
We explained logistics, frequency, availability, and ways to integrate it into travel packages.
-
We gathered feedback on the expectations of the new post-pandemic pilgrim profile: more connected to nature, more conscious, and seeking transformative experiences.
-
We established key contacts that will help us continue growing in European and Latin American markets.
These sessions confirm the growing interest in nautical tourism related to the Camino, and demonstrate that the Traslatio experience is in full expansion.
A sea that is also Camino
Since our beginnings in 2013, at Amare Turismo Náutico we have worked to show that the Ría de Arousa is not only sea, but also culture, history, and spirituality.
The Traslatio Route—which unites sea and land, tradition and nature—embodies our philosophy: offering authentic experiences that connect visitors with the essence of our territory.
As a company, we are proud to have brought this proposal to specialized fairs such as Fairway and to continue strengthening the presence of the sea within the Jacobean universe.
