Amare at the Rías Baixas Workshops: when Galician tourism sails into the future

At a key moment for sustainable tourism, Amare Turismo Náutico proudly took part in the Rías Baixas Workshops, a series of professional events organized by the Deputación de Pontevedra held in Barcelona and Zaragoza. These workshops offered a valuable opportunity to present our nautical routes, ecotourism philosophy and experiences to travel agencies, tour operators and tourism professionals from all over Spain.

Bringing the spirit of the Galician sea to major inland cities was more than just a promotional action. It was a chance to create connections, proudly share our story, and prove that authentic, sustainable tourism is not only possible—but in high demand.

What are the Rías Baixas Workshops?

The Rías Baixas Workshops are a key promotional tool designed to showcase the destinations, products, and services of the province of Pontevedra. Held in various Spanish cities, their main goal is to connect Galician tourism with national and international buyers, especially those interested in sustainable and experiential travel.

Each workshop features institutional presentations, B2B meetings, and networking sessions. This edition took place in Barcelona and Zaragoza, two strategic markets with strong interest in nature travel, slow tourism, and genuine local experiences.

As a family-run company rooted in the Ría de Arousa, Amare Turismo Náutico was honored to represent Galicia’s sustainable coastal tourism, alongside other quality brands from the region.

Bringing the Ría de Arousa to Barcelona and Zaragoza 🚤

Tourism often focuses on marketing campaigns, beautiful visuals, or social media posts. But there’s something unique about being physically present, telling your story face-to-face, and explaining why you do what you do.

Representing Amare at the Rías Baixas Workshops meant sharing our passion for the sea, our daily work, our commitment to sustainability, and the deep connection we feel with our environment.

During the events, we presented our sustainable nautical experiences to specialized agencies focusing on pilgrimages, family trips, premium travelers, and slow tourism. We introduced them to our boat routes through the Ría, the official Traslatio Stage of the Camino de Santiago, mussel farming, the natural richness of Cortegada, Areoso, or Sálvora… and most importantly: we shared real stories.

What Amare Turismo Náutico brings to the table

Amare was founded with a clear mission: to showcase life at sea, to offer an authentic and respectful experience of Galicia—from the water.

At the Workshops, we presented some of our most unique routes and services:

  • The Traslatio Route, the only maritime stage of the Camino de Santiago.

  • 🐚 The Fishing Arts Route, explaining traditional fishing techniques in action.

  • 🌿 Guided tours to Cortegada Island, part of the Atlantic Islands National Park.

  • 🏝️ Areoso Islet, the “Galician Caribbean” with white sand and turquoise waters.

  • 🎣 Fishing trips for beginners, fun and educational for all ages.

  • 🍷 Onboard tastings, with local conserves and Albariño wine.

  • 🛥️ Private boat rentals, tailored experiences with skipper.

What people appreciated the most was our sustainable vision of tourism, our connection with the local community, and our commitment to delivering honest, meaningful experiences.

Connections, insights, and new ideas 💡

Besides promoting our services, the Rías Baixas Workshops allowed us to learn and listen. Key tourism trends discussed included:

  • The rise of experiential and wellness travel.

  • Growing demand for authentic and local connections.

  • A shift towards natural, safe, uncrowded destinations.

  • The importance of real storytelling and close, personal attention.

We exchanged ideas with fellow Galician providers, met new agencies interested in the Camino de Santiago, and explored exciting collaboration opportunities.

These face-to-face encounters proved that even small local businesses have a voice. Passion and purpose shine through, and the tourism of tomorrow must be more human, sustainable, and rooted in place.

Why showing up matters: Galicia as a destination

Galicia is magical. Its landscapes, traditions, and people leave a lasting impression. But if we don’t tell our story—if we don’t travel and connect—only those who’ve already been here will know what we have to offer.

Being present in Barcelona and Zaragoza gave us the chance to present a real and vibrant version of Galicia. For Amare Turismo Náutico, it was an opportunity to position ourselves as ambassadors of responsible nautical tourism, promoting not just boat tours, but a whole lifestyle built on authenticity, sustainability, and community.

A positive balance and the road ahead

We returned home with fresh ideas, valuable contacts, and most of all, the confirmation that we are on the right path. There is growing demand for what we do: slow, mindful, immersive travel that respects the land and sea.

Our goal is now to keep opening new doors, improve our experiences, and stay true to who we are.
One of the most valuable lessons we took from the workshops is this: the future of tourism lies in meaningful, local experiences like ours.
